As part of the exhibition …or do you love your blinders?, Silja Korn teaches the basics of Braille and demonstrates how blind people read, write, and use Braille in their daily lives. The event features hands-on activities with a Braille machine, tactile text samples, and Braille books, allowing visitors to experience Braille for themselves through touch.

To mark the closing of the exhibition …or do you love your blinders?, Galerie im Saalbau invites visitors to a guided tour with artist Cornelia Herfurtner as part of 48 Stunden Neukölln. The tour offers insights into the works and Herfurtner’s artistic research on perception, self-protection, and protest.

During the 48 Stunden Neukölln art festival, the Galerie im Saalbau will have extended hours. During this time, visitors can view the solo exhibition …or do you love your blinders? by Cornelia Herfurtner, which places everyday protective items in a political and social context.

In this conversation, Cornelia Herfurtner and Linnéa Meiners discuss forms of political participation and protest, as well as barriers and exclusion in our society—both in private and public spheres—in relation to their specific artistic practices and visions.

The exhibition asks how everyday actions can take on political dimensions. It begins with the observation that the boundaries between private and public space are increasingly shifting. Herfurtner’s works draw on motifs from everyday life and combine craft-based techniques with contemporary social questions.
