We warmly invite you to the opening of the sound installation Neukölln. Oliwa. Sonic Portrait by Marcin Dymiter and Bea Targosz on Friday, October 23, 6 pm in the passage leading to the courtyard of Galerie im Saalbau.

The two-channel installation Neukölln. Oliwa. Sonic Portrait by Bea Targosz and Marcin Dymiter transforms field recordings from Neukölln and Oliwa into constantly changing sonic maps. A MaxMSP patch analyses, fragments and rearranges the recordings, redistributing sounds between two loudspeakers. The resulting soundscape brings the two places into an unstable, evolving relation, while the original portraits remain accessible via QR codes.

Neukölln. Oliwa. Sonic Portrait generates an invitation to attune to the shifting relations between places and bodies within the neighbourhood, and to listen for those sounds that emerge only when we listen collectively, through other sounds, places, and memories.

The event will be held in English.
