The two-artist exhibition Bittersweet Symphony explores a theme that shapes many aspects of life yet often remains hidden: alcohol addiction. The photographic works by Stefanie Moshammer and Eric Meier engage in a powerful dialogue about dependency, intimacy, responsibility, and the scars that addiction leaves on families and society.

Two distinct artistic positions come together, each approaching the subject of alcohol addiction in their own way: While Moshammer translates her mother’s alcohol addiction into a poetic visual language, Meier draws on intensive encounters with the residents of a residential facility in Eisenhüttenstadt to create striking black-and-white portraits. His works explore closeness and distance, isolation, dignity, and the consequences of social upheaval.

Straddling the line between intimacy and distance, Bittersweet Symphony opens up a space for questions about responsibility, background, and social exclusion—without offering easy answers.
