Profile

In the middle of the urban and multicultural heart of North Neukölln, Galerie im Saalbau on Karl-Marx-Straße presents a wide array of artistic projects. As a municipal “local gallery,” it offers artists in Berlin and in Neukölln in particular, a platform to explore everyday questions and socio-political topics in temporary exhibitions. This often translates to works in a wide variety of media that reference life and social structures of Neukölln.

At least two of the annual exhibitions are awarded to Neukölln artists by an independent jury of experts in order to showcase the wealth of artistic production in the studios of the area. The gallery also hosts the exhibition for the nominees of the Neukölln Art Prize, which is supported by the Department of Culture in cooperation with Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln and STADT UND LAND housing association.

Galerie im Saalbau is a member of the Arbeitskreis Kommunale Galerien (Municipal Galleries Working Group) Berlin.
