Jürgen Bürgin’s photographs are snapshots of people in major cities such as Berlin, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and Barcelona. The photo series, created between 2009 and 2015, shows multi-layered portraits of these cities and the people who live there. Jürgen Bürgin wants to make emotions visible in everyday occurrences. These are brief, seemingly random moments from the lives of city dwellers and the city itself. The Neukölln photographer roams the streets as a seeker, avoiding the touristy. He is interested in martial arts scenes, spontaneous open-air parties, stage life or everyday situations behind the dazzling facades of big cities. In his photographs, Jürgen Bürgin explores the remote, the driven, the hurried but also the quiet persistence in the metropolises of the world.
