Finissage as part of 48 Stunden Neukölln

including a tour of the exhibition with artist Cornelia Herfurtner

To mark the closing of the exhibition …or do you love your blinders?, the Galerie im Saalbau invites you to a guided tour with artist Cornelia Herfurtner as part of the 48 Stunden Neukölln Art and Culture Festival.

Starting with the question of how we see, perceive, and block out, the exhibition explores the political dimensions of everyday objects and actions. Carved wooden reliefs, marquetry, models, pictorial pastries, and large-scale installations combine traditional craft techniques with contemporary questions of self-protection, care, and protest. The focus is on an examination of the legal concept of so-called “passive armament,” which can criminalize everyday protective objects in the context of demonstrations.

The exhibition tour offers the opportunity to learn about the background of the works firsthand and to gain insights into Herfurtner’s artistic research, her materials, and the development of the exhibition. As part of 48 Stunden Neukölln, this provides a special opportunity to experience the exhibition together with the artist.
