Jurystatement

The textile-based installation My language is not my daughter’s language by Rula Ali shows a poignant approach to language and its ability to constantly evolve. Starting from an intergenerational context, the artist visualizes language as something alive, reciprocal, and in constant flux. By printing words on large lengths of fabric, she expands the function of language into a protective home, while also giving it a haptic, tangible dimension.
