The fine line that separates reality from dreams and the real from the impossible resembles a boundary. This can be crossed with daring but also with joy. In her drawings, the artist Helena Hernández humorously engages in this play with the obvious and the enigmatic. Her repertoire ranges from precise, naturalistic depictions of animals and insects and their living environments to curious hybrid creatures embedded in grotesque scenes. Drawings on long sheets of paper merge with surreal sculptural objects and penetrate the gallery space. A unifying element are the black contour lines that outline the characteristics of the protagonists and separate the inside from the outside.
