New Songs about Class

Marlene Heiss (pianist) and Nadine Fecht (visual artist) lead through an experimental-discursive song evening with students the Universität der Künste Berlin.

“Songs are usually not explicitly political, but they are always a reflection of their time and the respective social situation. They are identity-forming and community-building. By listening to and appropriating certain songs, we can gain access to communities, take part - or be excluded, if we are not familiar with the music and the social codes associated with it.”

Based on the discussion in the seminar “a class about song / songs about class” within the General Studies at the Universität der Künste Berlin, first results will be presented, discussed and insights into the process will be given.

The event will take place in German language.
