In everyday life, we are constantly surrounded by images. They shape the way we perceive other people and cultures. Established structures, environmental influences, and our perspective on the world all influence how we view our surroundings. Our unique, individually formed view of our environment produces preconceived images that often don’t correspond to the truth. These images need to be changed. Everyone has their own history, a past that has a formative effect on them and through which the self is defined. Not everyone knows the experience of others or knows which path they have taken. In our diverse society, it should be possible for individuals to develop freely and safely. However, even today, there is still resentment towards anything different from the familiar environment. How can your own identity develop in a self-determined way?
These works presented here offer a variety of perspectives on the ego in We. They provide an emotional insight into the We that reflects contemporary social diversity. A visual and tactile allegory of the self is rendered in installations, videos, and paintings. Lived memories are connected to emotions with multifaceted connotations that are given expression in the exhibition.
